Kennedy Catholic’s Rosemary Herold Named National Merit Semifinalist

National Merit Scholarship Seminfinalist Rosemary Herold, along with Kennedy Catholic Principal Mr. Mike Prato.

Rosemary Herold, a senior at Burien’s Kennedy Catholic High School, was recently named a National Merit Semifinalist in the 58th annual National Merit Scholarship Program.

She is among 16,000 other high performers in the country designated as Semifinalists on the 2011 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying test taken by over 1.5 million students from 22,081 high schools.

Three hundred and twenty-seven (327) students across the state of Washington were named as Semifinalists from 99 different high schools.

Rosemary will now have the opportunity to continue in the Merit Scholarship competition by meeting specified requirements and deadlines. The names of the finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program will be announced in the spring of 2013.

Kennedy Catholic High School offers congratulations to Rosemary for her accomplishments and good luck to her as she advances in the competition.

Kennedy Catholic has three Commended Students in the 2012-13 National Merit Scholarship Program:

  • Travis Beach
  • Julien Doe
  • Marla Meisburger-Iwata

These seniors are recognized for their exceptional academic promise demonstrated by their outstanding performance on the 2011 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

About 34,000 students throughout the nation (the top five percent of the more than 1.5 million students who took this qualifying test) were named Commended Students on the basis of a national selection index.

Beach graduated from St. Vincent de Paul, Doe hailed from Our Lady of Guadalupe, and Meisburger-Iwata graduated from St. Anthony.
