The Knights of Columbus will be holding a fundraiser drive for Special Olympics this weekend – Saturday, Oct. 20 and Sunday, Oct. 21 – from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Sam’s Club in Renton.

Look for people handing out Tootsie Rolls in front of the location at 901 S. Grady Way, and help them raise money for people with Intellectual Disabilities.

The Knights have been working with the Tootsie Roll company since 1974, handing out Tootsie Rolls and raising money for people with Intellectual Disabilities. Last year they added the State of Washington, as the 46th state to engage in the program.

“Being a big supporter of Special Olympics WA, I had to jump in,” said Joe James, Knights of Columbus Washington State Chairman for Special Olympics.

“A significant portion of the Catholic-affiliated funding -more than $640,000 – comes from the Knights of Columbus, a fraternal organization within the Church. The Knights of Columbus have an established history of using their money to fight marriage equality dating back to 2005. Equally Blessed, a coalition of pro-LGBT Catholic groups, will be releasing an extensive report in partnership with HRC today detailing the Knights’ longstanding financial support for anti-equality measures.”

Maybe they can use that money towards the groups they fundraise for instead of anti civil rights motives.

Fine job maggot, for your comment; (sounds like you’re one of the selfish 3% of the population) on your attempt to misinform and take the focus away from the Special Olympics and make it all about gay marriage…..what a tool!

Yea, Catholics! Keep up the great charitable work!
