Burien Humorist Shawn Underwood Helping Hurricane Sandy Victims

When BTB Contributor Shawn Underwood isn’t writing humor (see B-Town Undercover or her book “Mommy Are We French Yet?“), she volunteers for the American Red Cross.

Most recently she’s been volunteering back east, helping the victims of Hurricane Sandy in the New York area during the day and sleeping on a merchant marine ship at night.

Here are some pics of some of the areas she’s been to, along with a note from her (click images to see larger versions):

“Just a few pics of neighborhood on coast of Staten Island.

We are serving about 300 meals per day to homeless people and volunteers.

I am sleeping on a merchant marine ship. Can’t make decent quarter bounce berth bunk though…”

Shawn doesn’t have reliable internet service now, but if we get more updates from her we’ll update the blog.

In the meantime, everyone at The B-Town Blog salutes Shawn (and all other volunteers as well as Vets) for their continued service to this country and those in need!
