The King County Library Planning Committee agreed today (Thursday, Nov. 15) to submit to its board of directors a proposal to build a 10,000 square foot library in White Center.

The proposal by library system director Bill Ptacek is expected to be submitted to the board of directors at its Nov. 27 meeting at 5 p.m. at the KCLS headquarters in Issaquah.

If Ptscek’s proposal is adopted by the board, staff would begin looking for a property north of the existing library’s location and south of Roxbury St. to build on.

While the existing White Center Library would be replaced with the new facility, Ptacek said there will be no consolidation of it with the Boulevard Park Library in a new and larger building, as had long been considered.

The Boulevard Park Library will remain open at its current site.
