Courtesy local Photographer/Designer Jana Kleitsch comes these great photos, showing the Christmas Ships cruising past Burien’s Three Tree Point Saturday night, Dec. 1 (click images to see larger versions/slideshow):

Here’s what Jana had to say about it:

Watching the Christmas ships that sail from the Des Moines marina has been elevated to official holiday status in my house. (At least by me. The kids like to whine although I put a stop to that. Of course our cat wasn’t going to hang out all night at the bonfire!) It is a chance to see the neighbors who tend to hibernate during the winter months, have a bonfire and kick off the holiday season. I think my husband loves it because he is a pyro at heart and he gets to play with fire and light off some fireworks. We all have our own reasons to love it I guess!

In case you’re wondering, the next Christmas Ship displays will be (according to the Des Moines city website):

  • Wednesday, December 5th at Redondo Beach 8:55-9:15pm
  • Wednesday, December 19th at Des Moines Beach Park 7:10-7:30pm

The annual bon fire will be held at the Des Moines Beach Park Join holiday-spirited folk and enjoy complimentary cookies, coffee and cocoa. The Argosy Christmas Ship will anchor offshore in front of the Des Moines Beach Park to perform traditional holiday songs from 7:10-7:30. NOTE: Choir and schedule are subject to change. Bon fire scheduled weather permitting. For bon fire information, call the Des Moines Park & Recreation Department at (206) 870-6527.

We were on one of the boats and it is always fun to see the fireworks at 3TP and folks flashing their Christmas lights on and off. Great stuff!
