REMINDER: Donors Needed for City of Burien’s Blood Drive this Friday, Dec. 14
REMINDER: The City of Burien will be holding a Blood Drive at City Hall this Friday, Dec. 14 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., and they’re looking for Donors.
“The Blood Center will serve 50% fewer donors over the last two weeks of this year due to major holidays falling on Tuesdays,” reads an announcement. “For the first time in four years, Christmas and New Year’s Day are mid-week. This will cause a large drop in donor availability from the Friday prior to Christmas all the way through the Friday after New Year’s Day. This is a 14-day stretch! This anticipated decrease in blood collections is significant and special support is needed from blood donors to build up our blood inventory over the next week, in preparation for the drop in collections over the holidays. We hope for your support at the blood drive below. Your gift will boost the supply heading into the holidays. The best gift you can give this holiday season is the gift of LIFE! What other life-saving technique includes eating cookies?”
Here are some other reasons to donate:
- Someone needs blood every two seconds.
- About 1 in 7 people entering a hospital need blood.
- One pint of blood can save up to three lives!
