If you’re capable of “frequent standing, walking, sitting, fingering, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions of hands and wrists,” along with “occasional feeling,” the City of Burien may want to hire you as its new Assistant Public Works Director.

Those are some of the qualifications for the recent job listing ^[1], which pays between $94,164 and $114,456, depending on experience.

An astute BTB Reader pointed out the job listing to us, adding “I don’t know that it’s newsworthy, but it’s pretty damn funny. Check out the section on ‘Physical Abilities’”:

Frequent standing, walking, sitting, fingering, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions of hands and wrists; occasional feeling; and rare stooping, crawling, kneeling, climbing, handling, bending, and repetitive motions of feet. Position requires the ability to lift, push, pull, and carry ten pounds.

“The City of Burien believes that each employee makes a significant contribution to our success,” reads the posting.

While we’re not quite sure how ‘fingering’ qualifies as a significant contribution to the city’s success – if you can do that, as well as stoop, crawl, kneel, climb, handle, bend and repeatedly move your feet (and don’t forget the ‘occasional feeling’) – you should apply.
