A new series of Tuesday night Tai Chi classes starts at the Burien Community Center on Jan. 15, beginning at 7 p.m.

Taught by Viola Brumbaugh, the classes will feature Tia Chi and Qigong.

“I’ve taken Tai Chi from different teachers, but Viola exceeds my expectations again and again,” said Jane Martin. “She is a truly gifted teacher and has traveled to China to study with some of the highest level living masters. Thanks to her classes I probably saved my hip and maybe a broken leg today when I stepped on a very slippery stump and managed to catch myself before tumbling down a steep hillside.”

Hello and I am excited that you mentioned this great class. Just a couple corrections though.
First, the class begins at 6pm, not 7pm.
Second, there is a trial Tai Chi class open and free to everyone on Tuesday, Jan. 8, at 6pm at the Burien Community Center , and
Lastly, The Chinese martial art we will be practicing is Chen Tai Chi (not Tia Chi).

Here is a link for more information about this and the other Tai Chi classes I teach during the day in Burien
And a link to the Burien Parks and Rec. website to register:

Thanks so much for the mention. Part of what makes these classes so great is the students who come from all different backgrounds, all different levels of physical ability all trying to improve their lives by practicing something that is fun, engaging and good for them.

Viola’s Tai Chi class has done more for me than any other exercise class that I have taken in the last 10 years!! Really, I wish that I had met her years ago. She understands the importance of body balance and strength like no other——we are so fortunate to have her here in Burien. May she be with us for a long time!!!
