‘College Goal Sunday Washington’ aims to reduce the barriers students face in paying for college, and three upcoming local events – including Tuesday, Jan. 8 at Highline High School – will be held to help students plan for it.

This is a free, on-site program that helps students and families complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the form that is required to apply for federal financial assistance for higher education. The FAFSA is the single-most important application for financial aid.

This year’s annual events will take place at more than 60 different locations around Washington state beginning this month, including these three in our area:

1. Tuesday, Jan. 8, from 2:15-7 p.m. at Highline High School. At the event there will be a presentation by theWashboard.org. theWashBoard.org is a website that connects Washington students with Washington scholarship providers for free.
2. Wednesday, Jan. 9, from 5-7 p.m. at Big Picture High School. At the event there will be a presentation by theWashboard.org. theWashBoard.org is a website that connects Washington students with Washington scholarship providers for free.
3. Thursday, Jan. 10, from 6-8 p.m. at Mount Rainier High School.
