Dock Washes Up on Burien Beach; Photog Asks ‘Could it be Tsunami Debris?’

BTB Reader Terry Haigh sent us this photo of a dock that washed up on the waterfront on SW 172nd in Burien’s Three Tree Point neighborhood Monday, Jan. 7 (click image to see larger version):

“Are you missing a dock or is this another one from Japan?” Terry asked, somewhat tongue-in-cheek (we think…).

Winds in the 20s with gusts up to 33MPH, combined with another high tide – a 12.3 foot one just before Noon – were the most likely causes of this dock finding its new home.

If you’re wondering if the blustery weather will continue much longer, here’s the latest 7-day forecast from the National Weather Service:

  • This Afternoon: A 30 percent chance of rain before 4pm. Cloudy, with a high near 49. Southwest wind around 14 mph.
  • Tonight: A 40 percent chance of rain after 10pm. Cloudy, with a low around 43. South wind 7 to 10 mph.
  • Tuesday: Rain. High near 48. South southwest wind 7 to 12 mph increasing to 13 to 18 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 90%.
  • Tuesday Night: Rain. Low around 43. Breezy, with a south southwest wind around 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%.
  • Wednesday: Showers. High near 46. Southwest wind around 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%.
  • Wednesday Night: A chance of rain showers before 10pm, then a chance of rain and snow showers. Snow level 1100 feet lowering to 500 feet. Cloudy, with a low around 36. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
  • Thursday: A 30 percent chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 38.
  • Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 34.
  • Friday: A chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 38.
  • Friday Night: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 36.
  • Saturday: A chance of rain. Partly sunny, with a high near 41.
  • Saturday Night:A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 38.
  • Sunday: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 41.

    someone has posted they were missing a green dock from Alki this was when the tides were really high…
