The Washington State Patrol is seeking witnesses to a serious injury accident that happened on southbound SR-509 Jan. 20, which left three injured men fleeing from the scene, leaving another one with serious injuries behind.

Troopers located the injured hours afterward at Highline Medical Center.

According to police, just after Noon on Jan. 20, witnesses reported a silver Volkswagen Jetta was traveling in the left lane of southbound SR-509 near Cloverdale at high speeds. A black Jeep made a lane change from the center lane into the left lane, not realizing the Jetta was approaching. The Jetta, driven by Marco Garica Perez of Seattle, lost control and struck a red Honda Civic before it traveled onto the right shoulder and rolled over. Garcia Perez and two male passengers ran from the collision scene, leaving behind a front seat passenger, a 45-year old male from Seattle, with serious injuries. Following an exhaustive search of the surrounding area all three men were located at Highline Medical Center receiving treatment for injuries from the collision.

Marco Garcia was booked into King County Jail under investigation of Vehicular Assault and Felony Hit and Run following his treatment. Alcohol is believed to be involved in the collision. The passengers are not facing any charges at this time. Damage to the Honda Civic was minor and the occupants did not report any injuries.

Washington State Patrol Detectives are seeking witnesses to this collision that have not already provided statements. They are also seeking the occupants of a black Jeep that may be unaware of the Jetta and was traveling on State Route 509 when the collision occurred. If you believe you may have new information about this investigation please contact Detective Russ Haake at (425) 401-7717.
