A fundraiser featuring comedians Bobcat Goldthwait and Tony V. – benefiting the local Hear See Hope Foundation – will be held Feb. 28 at The Triple Door in Seattle.

All proceeds from the evening go to help fund a cure for Usher syndrome – the most common cause of deaf-blindness – but it will also be a memorable event.

“As you may or may not know, my wife and I founded the Hear See Hope Foundation to raise awareness of and generate funds to be used towards Usher syndrome research,” said Organizer Todd McKittrick. “We have four boys, two of whom were born with Usher syndrome. Usher Syndrome is the leading cause of deaf-blindness.”

McKittrick added:

We are so excited because our efforts are making a difference. Resulting in part from our previous grant funding, the first-ever gene therapy trial for patients with Usher syndrome type 1 (the type our children have) is underway at the Casey Eye Institute at the Oregon Health Sciences University. If this trial is successful, other gene therapy trials are expected to follow. This clinic trial has the possibility of stopping retinal degeneration in patients and in many cases, will improve vision. We are so thrilled that our efforts of generating over $750,000 over the past 6 years have finally led to clinical trial. We hope that in the next few years we’ll be able to tell our boys that our efforts have paid off and there will be a cure for Conner and Dalton and all others that suffer from this retinal disorder.

The live auction is only a small part of the evening as there will only be about 15 live items – most of the evening you will be entertained by comedians Bobcat Goldthwait and Tony V.  If you haven’t seen their stand-up then check them out:

The Triple Door is a fantastic venue and is part of Wild Ginger, so you know the food will be great.

Tickets are $100 per person and includes dinner along with beer and wine. To register please go to:
