Eagle Landing Park Closed Temporarily to Remove Two ‘Hazardous’ Trees

The City of Burien is reporting on its website that Eagle Landing Park will be closed to the public Wednesday and Thursday, March 20 – 21, for “removal of two hazardous trees.”

The city is not reporting which two trees it considers hazardous, but we can safely guess that one of them may be the 164-tall Eagle “Perch” tree mentioned in our story about water being drained into the earthquake-sensitive slope and possibly causing slides below. That tree has been on the verge of falling for several weeks, since a slide took out most of the hill below it.

The park entry gate will remained locked both days and reopen Friday, March 22.
