The American Homestay Network (AHN) is currently seeking local families to host international students for the 2013-2014 school year, and are asking our Readers to see if anyone wants to help.

Some interesting facts on Homestay and AHN:

  • “Homestay” is a cultural exchange between a local individual or family (called a host) and a visiting student.
  • Homestay supports the student’s desire to improve his or her English-speaking skills and learn about American culture and lifestyles while studying at local colleges and universities including Highline CC.
  • Homestay also offers an opportunity for the host family to learn about the student’s culture.
  • Local families receive $600-$1000/month hosting fee – a great boost to any family budget in often difficult economic times.
