The City of Burien announced Friday that this coming Monday, April 29, DPK will be installing a traffic signal arm and signal lights at the intersection of SW 146th and 1st Avenue South (map below).

“This will affect westbound through-traffic going into SW 146th Street, right-turns from southbound 1st Avenue South traffic, and left-turns from northbound 1st Avenue South traffic,” according to the notice.

The contractor will also be pouring new concrete sidewalk and ramps at the northwest corner of this location.

Both jobs will run from 7 am to 3 pm.

On Tuesday, April 30, DPK will be replacing sidewalk and ramps at the southwest corner of this same intersection (next to 7-11). This will affect eastbound and right-turns with either limited access or closures. This work is expected to only take half of the day.

“Please consider alternate routes and/or plan for extra travel time. Thank you.”

I really wish they would open the roads when work is not going on. All of the notices say 7-3pm but thats never the case. The turning lane by 7-11 has been closed for a week and one of the SB 1st Ave lanes was closed all weekend.

I think I understand now why the City of Burien is installing traffic signal arms and signal lights on every block.
This is waisting more of tax payers money that we really don’t have. Who really needs all these lights? Who is the brilliant brain on this Council that is comming up with all of this? I guess I have to do more research and find out about these lights.
