Could you please post that there is a new 4-way stop sign at 143rd and 6th Ave SW (map below)?

The 4-way stop was needed but is not marked as well as it should be for new a traffic revision.

This is a very highly traveled road as I was stopped 2 people ran the stop.

Please post ASAP, I will contact the City to request they put up better markers for a while.

Thank you,
Patty M. Boyd

[EDITOR’S NOTE: As we were at this intersection taking photos, at least four vehicles blew through this stop sign without slowing down at all.]

Interesting. I agree that the new sign was really needed. We were traveling westbound on SW 143rd (toward Fred Meyers) about a month ago and saw a serious accident at that intersection. The car in front of us (also westbound) was “T-Boned” by a SUV that blew through the 6th Ave stop sign without pausing in the southbound direction. After stopping to check on the victims and call 911, several residents came out and were saying that the intersection had been the site of repeated accidents when the vehicles traveling on 6th did not stop for (the then 2 way) stop sign. That intersection is very close to the Burien Co-op preschool, in a residential neighborhood with a good bit of foot traffic.

Kudos to the first responders, both police and EMTs arrived in less than 5 minutes.

The city has installed two signs advising of new stop sign on SW 143rd west of 6th. Did not check set of 6th, but should be there also.

For those who think city departments are not run well, this seems to be a pretty quick response!
