And they’re off – here’s who’s running for Burien City Council after first filing day

Monday, May 13 was the first day to file to run for office with King County Elections for 2013, and the race for Burien City Council is off to an interesting start.

Incumbents Jack Block, Jr., Joan McGilton and Rose Clark have all filed to defend their seats, with newcomer Robert Richmond III challenging McGilton and Joey Martinez going for departing Mayor Brian Bennett’s seat.

We don’t yet know much about Richmond, but are currently seeking more information on him.

As of 6 p.m., the following had officially filed for seats on the council via King County Elections:

  • Council Position No. 1: Jack Block Jr.
  • Council Position No. 3: Robert L. Richmond III, Joan McGilton
  • Council Position No. 5: Rose Clark
  • Council Position No. 7: Joey Martinez

    With all the people who complain about the council, let’s see if they put their words aside long enough to vote in a change rather than just complain and do nothing about it. The vote will tell.
