[EDITOR’S NOTE: The following is a Letter to the Editor, written by a Reader:]

Hooray to the B-Town Blog, one concerned citizen, and the KC Sheriffs!!!

Last night, around 9:00PM, they found our stolen Raleigh bicycle (read the original blog story here). Apparently, someone read your blog and saw the bike photos, then saw a man in possession of the bike, and called police. The police arrested the man just east of the 1st Ave. Firestone, and recovered our bicycle.  He is a local Burien resident with numerous arrests for offenses such as this, as well as other drug-related offenses (meth, etc.).

Also, they might have a lead on our other bicycle as well, so we’ll see about that.

As a former Seattle cop, I know the recovery rate for stolen bikes is extremely low.  The fact that ours was found is due to both luck and diligence by people and police in our community.  Just wanted to say thanks for helping us out so quickly and keep up the good work!

Kudos to the B-Town Blog, KC Police and especially to Sig and Anna for being proactive and alerting our community to this crime. It shows how important it is to contact police no matter how minor you may perceive the crime to be. This guy has a record and just maybe this stolen bike incident could be enough to put him behind bars for a while. Now it’s up to our courts to finish the job….will they? Or will this dirtball be back out on the streets in a couple weeks continuing his life of crime at the expense of the people of Burien.

No reward for the person who found the very expensive bike and called the police? Just a thought.
