Len Boscarine withdraws from Burien City Council race

Longtime resident Len Boscarine withdrew his candidacy for Burien City Council, Position #5 – currently held by Rose Clark – on Monday, May 20.

We have reached out to Mr. Boscarine for comment and hope to post his response if and when we receive it.

“A candidate may withdraw by submitting a signed request that their name not be printed on the ballot no later than Monday, May 20, 2013, at 4:30 p.m., regardless of postmark,” reads an announcement on the King County Elections website. “A withdrawal of candidacy form (pdf) is available online. There shall be no withdrawal period for Declarations of Candidacy filed during special filing periods. Filing fees are not refundable. Once filed, a Declaration of Candidacy may not be altered. If a candidate decides during the filing period to change the Declaration of Candidacy, the candidate must first withdraw and then re-file.”

This leaves 12 candidates who have officially declared for four Burien City Council seats:

  • Council Position No. 1: Jack Block Jr. (incumbent), Lauren Berkowitz, Kip Walton
  • Council Position No. 3: Andrea H. Reay, Joan McGilton (incumbent), Robert L. Richmond III, Debi Wagner
  • Council Position No. 5: Nancy Tosta, Len BoscarineWITHDRAWN, Rose Clark (incumbent)
  • Council Position No. 7: Chuck Rangel, Joey Martinez, Steve Armstrong

The Primary election will be Aug. 6, and the General election will be Nov. 5.
