Relay For Life is a community gathering where everyone can participate in the fight against cancer, and it’s returning to the Highline High School Memorial Stadium this coming weekend – Saturday, June 8 and Sunday, June 9!

Teams of people camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event – because cancer never sleeps. Relay For Life is an overnight event.

Here’s the schedule of events:

SATURDAY, JUNE 8:

  • 4:00 – Opening Ceremony
  • 4:15 – Survivor Lap (Caregivers meet Survivors Half way with Metals)
  • Survivor Reception immediately following near concessions, Survivors & Caregivers welcome.
  • 7:00 – 5K Check In.
  • 8:00 – 5K – We will share the inside lanes with Runners – Walkers on the outside lanes.
  • 10:00 – Luminaria Ceremony – Special Speaker Doug Strauss

SUNDAY, JUNE 9:

  • 7:00 am – Breakfast By NPSL / BPPSL – Awards
  • 9:00 am – Closing Ceremony / Fight Back / Drawing / Last Lap

This annual fundraiser brings together millions of people to raise money to help prevent cancer and save lives. While you’re raising much needed funds, you will also be raising awareness of cancer prevention, early detection, treatment, and patient support. Relay brings people together from all walks of life with the common goal of eliminating cancer. No matter who you are, there is a place for you at Relay. Please, join us today!

When the sun goes down hundreds of luminaria light the way under the stars to remember those lost to cancer, those fighting cancer, and those who have fought cancer and won. This ceremony of light symbolizes the hope and perseverance with which we all continue to fight.

All survivors (anyone who has faced a cancer diagnosis) are invited to join us as our honorary guests in the Survivor Lap, which opens the Relay For Life. Their strength and courage help the community see that cancer survivorship is real – that we are making progress in the battle against cancer.
