The King County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that a 3-year old Seattle girl (NOTE: earlier it was erroneously reported that she was 4) was struck by a car in Burien Sunday (June 9) after she broke free from her mothers’ grip and ran into the road.

The girl suffered serious injuries and was transported to Harborview.

Detectives said the incident happened around 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the 12200 block of 24 Ave South (map below).

The girl and her mother were walking southbound on the west side of 24 Ave S., when the girl broke free from her mothers’ grasp and ran into the path of a southbound vehicle driven by a 67-year old SeaTac man.

Detectives said there is no evidence of alcohol or speed on the part of the driver of the vehicle.
