Tuesday night, Normandy Park Mayor Clarke Brant was presented the 2013 ‘Fittest City’ “snake” trophy by David Bobanick, Cove to Clover board member. Last year, Burien won the honor, but was edged out by Normandy Park this year.

Organizers of the Cove to Clover fundraiser, which was held April 28 (read our previous coverage here), announced that their ‘Fittest City Award’ was given to the City of Normandy Park Tuesday night, June 11.

“The Cove to Clover Fittest City Award was created in 2012 as a way to foster some friendly intra-city competition,” said C2C Founder/Organizer John Nelson. “The ‘snake’ trophy, hand forged and donated by Black Bird Iron and Design (www.blackbirdiron.com) is a revolving award which goes to the City with the lowest aggregate times of the fastest runners from each city (based on registration forms). ”

To foster fitness, the competition is limited to the cities of Normandy Park, Burien, Des Moines and Seatac.

Cove to Clover, run completely by volunteers, will donate close to $30,000 to local charities this year. In the past 5 years, C2C has raised over $120K for local charities.
