Robert Stonesifer reminds us that the District 7 Little League All-Star Tournament got underway this past weekend, with a game set for tonight (Wednesday, July 3) at 6 p.m.

This is a baseball tournament for ages 9-10, and ages 11-12, is being hosted at the Bar-S fields in West Seattle near Alki Point.

“In the 9-10 tournament, the South Highline National Little League team began their tourney play after a bye with a solid 18-6 win over PacWest Little League on Sunday,” Stonesifer told The B-Town Blog.  “They now face the host team from West Seattle Little League on Wednesday night (tonight) at 6:00 pm.  If you’re looking for something fun to do, come out to Alki to support the local boys from Des Moines and Normandy Park.  With a win, they advance to the championship game on Saturday.  It’s free to attend…besides this group is more fun to watch than that team playing in Sodo right now!  The prize for the winner of this tournament is to represent the district in the state tournament to be held in Oak Harbor starting the weekend of July 13th.”

In the 11-12 tournament, the Nationals opened with a 7-2 victory over the team from Rainier District. The Nationals then battled hard on Sunday, but fell to rival PacWest 5-3.  As this is a double-elimination tournament, the Nationals defeated Southwest Little League on Monday night and will face Renton at 10:00 AM on July 4th.
