Two-car collision results in DUI and Hit & Run charges for Burien woman
The King County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that a two-car car collision Wednesday (July 10) just before 6 p.m. resulted in an 18-year old Burien woman being arrested for DUI and hit and run.
The collision – which occurred in the 11800 block of Ambaum Blvd SW (map below) – happened when one vehicle, traveling southbound, rear-ended another vehicle that was traveling southbound.
Witnesses say the tailing vehicle was greatly exceeding the posted speed limit of 35 mph.
Following the impact, the front vehicle then collided with the jersey barrier, flipped over, and came to rest on all four tires in a private driveway. The tailing vehicle struck a light pole and came to rest across both southbound lanes of traffic.
The driver of the tailing vehicle fled on foot and hid in a neighbor’s yard nearby, before being arrested after her hiding spot was pointed out by several witnesses.
Three people were taken to Highline Medical Center – the suspect driver and two adults from the front vehicle. All were released later that day.
