Burien attorney Tracy Codd was recently honored by the University of Washington Foundation for his recent ascent of Tanzania, Africa’s Mount Kilimanjaro on behalf of the University of Washington Autism Center (read our previous coverage here).

The UW Foundation posted an article on June 26, 2013, complete with pictures and quotations regarding the climb.

Mr. Codd was successful in raising $50,000 in support of the UW Autism Center.

“I’m thankful for UW Foundation’s recognition of the climb,” Codd told the Blog. “I got a kick out of the ‘photobombing’ reference in the piece. My climbing partner (Burien Businessman Craig Johnson) and I have a good natured Husky-Cougar rivalry, and it added to the fun of the hike. It seemed like every time we reached a steep section of the trail, there was a Cougar flag waving in my face from the back of Craig’s pack. My Husky flag is bigger than his Cougar flag, though!”

“I am very grateful to all of those who have contributed to the climb. Little is known about Autism, however the body of research is growing, and hopefully this fundraising effort has contributed in a small way to a better understanding of the condition.” Codd added.
