[EDITOR’S NOTE: The following is a Letter to the Editor, written by a Reader. It does not necessarily reflect the opinion of The B-Town Blog nor its staff:]

Just a reminder to Seahurst residents not to leave their cars unlocked or windows open.

I just found my car at work (Advanced Massage) rifled through and stuff stolen. $50 box fan I just bought on my lunch break! Flash light, lighters, a personal cigarette case, and a E-cigarette (I’m really trying to quit).

However the big box fan was retrieved!

I’m sure it was lazy pre-teens/teens…they dropped it a block later headed north on 21st and 150th.

I feel like it was a thrill thing, because they left the $10-20 in change in the car. And my Swiss army pocket knife.

I’m sorry to hear that, Tyghe. Could you tell us what time of day this happened? I leave nothing in my car so there is no temptation to see what might be in that box in the back or what might be in the bag on the seat. Glad you got your fan back.

Around 5:45 to 7pm I noticed when I took the trash out that something didn’t look right with my car…. No big box!

My car got stolen twice, first time got it back in about 4 days, 3 days later gone again.
I`m going to camp out in it with a cord, a pair of tin snips and a bat and turn their F`ing little heads into a popped melon, remove their greedy little fingers one at a time, tie their legs together and throw their butts out on the freeway at 60 mph when they try the next time. If they think I`m kidding, they are in for a huge surprise.

Activity is certainly up in the neighborhood, so thanks for warning people. Our block had several license plates stolen a few weeks back, and we had an intruder in our house about a month ago while I had stepped over to a neighbors and my son was in the house! So yes, please lock up and not give these creeps more opportunities.

My girlfriend teaches a class at the Y on 188th in Seatac. 2 weeks ago she got her $500 smart phone stolen out of her locker. She had it locked, walked in and had trouble opening her lock for several minutes, there was no one in the locker room so she hung her lock in the hole but left it unlocked for THREE MINUTES while she took a quick shower. Someone went in and stole her phone in those couple minutes.

Last night (2 weeks later) she walked out to her car in the parking lot at the Y after class and someone smashed her passenger car window out and stole her tote bag that had her favorite sweatshirt and her wallet in it. She lost $40 in cash and in the 30 minutes (they had the break in caught on tape but couldn’t make out who the person was from so far away) in between the break in and her discovering and canceling her debit card, the thief had already made TWO purchases at the Renton Fred Meyers for $180 and $195. The window I just replaced for her this morning cost another $200.

There is a lot of car theft going on in the Burien, Normandy Park, and Seatac areas right now.

Do NOT leave ANY valuables in your car (in your trunk if you have to) and make sure everything is locked up and safe! My lady friend has had to learn the hard way over the last couple weeks. Both thefts could have been avoided with proper precaution.
