The King County Sheriff’s Office is confirming what several BTB Readers told us – that at least five cars, possibly up to 12, had their windows shattered in the 13000 block of 12th Ave South (map below) in Burien on Wednesday (July 31) between 5 – 8 p.m.

“This evening, we discovered one of our car’s window’s had been smashed out,” said one Reader. “It was parked on the street. And at least two other vehicles on our street (12th Ave S.) were hit today. Last night, the neighbor’s car had the same thing happen. The responding officer said he’s responded to reports of numerous other car window’s being smashed out as well. The scary part is these crimes are happening in the late afternoon – between 5pm and 8pm.”

The Reader added that there were no witnesses to the crimes in progress.

“We don’t know if they’re on foot or in a car. Hoping to get the word out so these crimes either stop or these guys are caught,” he added.

“Five cars had windows shattered with nothing stolen and three cars (in the same driveway) were scratched,” said Detective Jason Stanley of the Sheriff’s Office. “Deputies responded and took incident reports, but there are currently no leads on the cases.”

That’s some serious vandalism. I bet somebody saw something or someone and can provide a lead to the police. Or so one hopes.

My vehicle was also hit parked in my driveway – on the block of 140th Street SW. I also noticed several other cars along S 146th Street that were hit. A few months ago it was mailboxes being burglarized now this?!?!
Crimes like these depreciate the value of our properties and the community we live – Please report any information you may have on these vandals! This has to stop!

That is in addition to the string of cars on 4th Ave So. between 150th and 152nd on Tuesday night. That group of cars parked across from Highline High and next to the apartments take a “hit” frequently, but this was worse than usual, Instead of 1 or 2, it was at least 6. If you don’t have a garage (or it is full of other than your car) you are at risk anywhere in King County, not just Burien.
