[EDITOR’S NOTE: The following is a Letter to the Editor, written by a Reader. It does not necessarily reflect the opinion of The B-Town Blog nor its staff:]

This happened at my house this morning (Thursday, Aug. 8), at 4th Ave SW & 106th…

Instant karma story: I’m interrupted when feeding my animals this morning when my dogs start barking like crazy… I walk out front to see a guy running off through our front gate with my husband’s bicycle (which was on our porch, but not locked up)… I scream at the thief, and chased him about 1/2 a block but he was riding away fast on the bike.

I ran home and called 911, they send a sheriff out quickly… sheriff finds bike at intersection nearby, apparently thief was struck by a car while fleeing the scene! Thief apparently ran away from the accident scene, but our bicycle is recovered and somewhat damaged, but repairable.

Hope that idiot learned his lesson…

Charmaine, what did this guy look like? Just wondering if he is local thief that stole a bike from our apt. complex here on 4th SW and 112th SW. That bike was recovered a week later when we saw him riding it and he went to jail, only for a couple days. He has also been in here prowling cars which I called police for. I know what he looks like, also his name and where he lives. Hope the guy that took your bike got a good thump from the car! Glad you got your bike back, sorry it was damaged.

Whoever was driving the car should get a medal! Hope their car wasn’t damaged, hope the perp was!
