HouckBurien Police Officer Jason Houck ran in the ‘Ironman Triathlon Canada’ on Sunday, Aug. 25, finishing 15th overall, and second in his age group (35).

Jason’s impressive finish qualified him for the ‘Kona Ironman Triathlon’!

The Ironman is a very lengthy event, and includes a 2.4-mile swim (his time was just over an hour), a 112-mile bike ride (5:05) and ends with a full marathon (26.2 miles- 3:20).

Jason competed against 10 professional athletes in the event.

“Jason has been with the King County Sheriff’s Office for 13 years and has been a Burien Officer for over a year,” said Sgt. Cindi West of the King County Sheriff’s Office. “Join me in congratulating Jason on a great job!”

Jason competed in the triathlon in memory of fallen King County Sheriff’s deputies (see the photo of his tri-suit with the names of the fallen officers on the back).
