CRIME ALERT: Be aware of door-to-door salespeople canvassing Burien
Several Readers have alerted us to some suspicious door-to-door salespeople in Burien recently, trying to sell a cleaning formula by “Sierra Solutions,” but who may have ulterior motives.
“We had someone in our neighborhood last night approach our house with at door-to-door sales pitch for a cleaner that appeared to work miracles,” said one Reader. “Actually it was just grain alcohol mixed with some water and a coloring agent…”
This Reader – who happened to record surveillance video of the suspect (see below) – adds that “the most suspicious part of this was that we noticed this man at the public park on the corner about 4:00 ish or roughly 2 and a half hours earlier. Then, if you watch the video he is walking down SW 172nd Street. The time that he is walking is about 6:30 p.m. Notice that even though a lot of our neighbors are home and there are cars in the garages he doesn’t even attempt to canvas their homes. He is walking and almost does an about face in front of our our house and beelines it right to our front door. Very odd…”
Door-to-door sales of this type are illegal in Burien, according to Ordinance No. 564.
And police sent out this warning to local Block Watch Captains:
“This heavy set Hispanic male with a tattoo on his neck was seen in the Seahurst Park neighborhood this weekend as well as possibly being associated with a burglary from earlier in the month,” Detective John Hawkins King County Sheriff’s Office said in an email. “He was selling cleaning supplies door to door over the weekend.”
Another Reader wrote:
Wanted to alert my fellow neighbors that a couple (male and female) are in the area selling door to door cleaning product.
They are aggressive in trying you to buy their cleaning product.
They shared that they are associated with Sierra Solutions, when asked for information they wrote down the following website: sierrasolutions.com “Clean and Simple Super Cleaner”.
Well I did not let them in my home and told them “no thank you”. It did take a while for me to convince them.
Then I saw them drive off in their black SUV to my neighbors house.
I quickly checked on the internet and found that yes the company does exit; but has received poor reviews.
Hoping this is just not a way to canvas the neighborhood and learn more about each residence.
If you see this man, you are advised to call 9-1-1 or (206) 296-3311.
