Burien Mayor Brian Bennett will take part in the 2013 ‘Mayor’s Day of Concern for the Hungry,’ taking place on Saturday, Sept. 28 at the Albertson’s store located at 12725 1st Ave. South (map below)

Food drives to benefit local food banks are being held that day throughout King County by the Emergency Feeding Program of Seattle and King County.

Mayor Bennett will be at the Albertson’s to help encourage shoppers to participate in the food drive. Local Key Club members will be collecting food donations at the stores between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Food donations will be turned over to the White Center Food Bank, which serves needy families in both White Center and portions of Burien. Last year’s event netted over 1,000 pounds of food for the food bank.
