On Monday (Sept. 23), officials from Water District #54 announced the the ‘boil water’ advisory is still in effect, and “will remain in effect until further notice.”

Bottled water continues to be available at the District offices, located at 922 South 219th Street in Des Moines (map below).

“Within the next 24 to 36 hours, the District hopes to have enough information to allow it to determine when the boil advisory can be lifted and businesses in its service area can re-open,” reads an announcement. “The District is working with the Department of Health and other community partners to implement a plan to lift the advisory as soon as possible. The plan includes continued short-term chlorination of the water along with flushing of the system and increased frequency of water quality testing.”

Customers and businesses can call the District’s offices at (206) 878-7210 for additional information, or check the City of Des Moines website (www.desmoineswa.gov) or the City’s government channel 21 for information regarding the situation.

The District serves customers in the core of Des Moines and the far south section of Normandy Park in an area from Puget Sound, east to 13th Ave South and Kent-Des Moines Road north to South 212th Street.

  1. It’s very sad seeing all the local businesses in Des Moines closed. They have been shut down since Saturday afternoon. All the restaurants are closed and so is B & E Meats. It’s got to be detrimental to all these employees and businesses.
