LETTER: Is someone shaving and painting Squirrels in the Seahurst area?
[EDITOR'S NOTE: The following is a Letter to the Editor, written by a Reader. It does not necessarily reflect the opinion of The B-Town Blog nor its staff:]
While relaxing on Sunday afternoon, I heard my kids yelling about a “rainbow squirrel”. At first my husband and I thought they were playing a practical joke on us, but that was not the case. We went to the window to look for ourselves and out on our lawn was a squirrel that had been shaved and painted pink and green.
Then this morning while driving down 22nd Ave SW, I noticed a squirrel running across the street. The squirrel was also painted, but this one was a red color. I couldn’t get a clear enough look to know whether it had been shaved as well, but it was definitely painted.
While it may seem like a funny prank, the weather is getting colder and this squirrels rely on their fur to keep them warm. Also, I am hoping that what ever was used as a paint, was non-toxic. I would urge whomever thought this was a brilliant idea; to get some paper or canvas to paint on next time and to please leave these small animals alone.
