ChoralSounds Northwest brings ‘Joy to the World’ with Dec. 7 holiday concert
ChoralSounds Northwest will bring ‘Joy to the World’ with their 2013 Holiday Concert on Saturday, Dec. 7 at the Highline Performing Arts Center.
For his third season with ChoralSounds Northwest (CSN), Artistic Director Brian J. Winnie brings the audience a celebration of multiculturalism as well as a bevy of beloved traditional American Christmas carols. The first act features an eye-opening view of diverse celebratory music from eight countries including South Africa, England, and Argentina. The carols and folk songs represent national heritage and love of country, while showcasing their celebratory traditions. The music is from diverse areas and varied styles from Renaissance to Contemporary Gospel. The second act features a Greek choir and a reading from ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas. Musical interludes connect this age-old holiday story with the chorus. Act two continues with holiday favorites Silver Bells, Silent Night, Rudolf, and Joy to the World. The concert ends with a finale that was so popular last year it had to be repeated. CSN starts a new tradition by putting their own spin on the Hallelujah Chorus from Messiah.
