Highline Counselor Shauna Pierson named ‘Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction’
Academy of Citizenship and Empowerment (ACE) Counselor Shauna Pierson has been selected as a ‘Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction.’
The special program of the National Honor Society of High School Scholars (NHSHSS) honors educators worldwide.
ACE student Sevda Fazilova nominated Pierson for her dedication and significant contribution to students’ academic careers and leadership. Pierson helped Sevda enroll in the Running Start program, which allows high school juniors and seniors to take classes at community colleges; students earn high school and college credits simultaneously and pay no college tuition.
“This encourages me to stay positive and keep knowing my students by name, strength, and need,” said Pierson. “It’s important to never ever give up on a student. Tomorrow may be the day that makes the difference in any given students life.”
Pierson has worked as a Highline counselor for more than 10 years.
The Educator of Distinction program is named after NHSHSS Chairman and Co-Founder, Claes Nobel. It recognizes educators who support NHSHSS members with meaningful content, resources, and opportunities.
NHSHSS encourages young people to strive for greatness and to embrace their responsibility as future world leaders and innovators.
