WEATHER: ‘Snow likely’ to start Thursday night

The National Weather Service is predicting that snow is “likely” starting Thursday night, Dec. 19, with accumulation of “less than one inch possible.”

Sadly though, it will likely turn to rain after 10 a.m. Friday morning.

“Models are still suggesting that there will be extensive lowland snow on Friday morning, between roughly 1-2 AM and 10 AM,” said Cliff Mass on his blog. “After that the temperatures will warm, with snow transitioning to rain by the early afternoon.”

Here’s the full 7-day forecast:

  • Today: A 30 percent chance of showers before 4pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 45. South wind 5 to 8 mph becoming north in the afternoon.
  • Tonight: Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 30. North wind 9 to 11 mph.
  • Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 38. North wind 6 to 11 mph becoming light and variable in the morning.
  • Thursday Night: Snow likely, possibly mixed with rain, mainly after 4am. Cloudy, with a low around 34. Southeast wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
  • Friday: Rain and snow likely, becoming all rain after 10am. Cloudy, with a high near 44. South southwest wind 8 to 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
  • Friday Night: Rain likely. Cloudy, with a low around 41. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
  • Saturday: A 40 percent chance of rain. Cloudy, with a high near 48.
  • Saturday Night: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 43.
  • Sunday: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 49.
  • Sunday Night: A chance of rain. Cloudy, with a low around 44.
  • Monday: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 48.
  • Monday Night: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 39.
