LETTER: ‘I would like to thank Transform Burien for the work they are doing…’
[EDITOR’S NOTE: The following is a Letter to the Editor, written by a Reader. It does not necessarily reflect the opinion of The B-Town Blog nor its staff:]
I would like to thank Transform Burien for the work they are doing with the homeless and those in need in our area.
For those that have not heard of Transform Burien, it is a group of local churches that have banded together to provide food and clothes to those who are less fortunate than ourselves. It is unprecedented in this area for so many pastors (I believe there is 11 at this point) to come together for a common cause. Each church takes turns providing hot meals each week for anyone who comes. The food bank and clothing bank take care of many Burien residents each week. God has watched over Transform Burien this year. The fire that damaged the Burien Little Theater just missed the clothing and food bank as where they are located in the main building of that complex. Transform Burien did not miss a day. The best event just happened a few day ago in the toy give away. Each church has been collecting toys to give to kids who would not have a Christmas. They collected a lot of toys but the demand was so high that they were not going to have enough toys to give each child even one toy. At the last minute the Toys for Tots called and said they had too many toys and asked if transform Burien could use some help. They showed up with a truck full of toys and not only did each child receive one toy, they received three. Lives were changed because of the generosity of those in our community.
If you would like to get involved in working with people that can use your help, contact almost any church in Burien and ask about Transform Burien.
You can also call the Burien Evangelical Church office at 206-244-5300 and ask how you can get involved to make a difference in Burien.
