Scottye Miller, 31 – of Burien – was sentenced Friday afternoon (Jan. 10) to 50 years in prison for the fatal stabbing of his ex-girlfriend in Auburn in 2012 (read our previous coverage here). A jury last month found Miller guilty of ‘Murder in the First Degree’ with a deadly weapon enhancement as charged for the murder of Tricia Patricelli, 33, on Oct. 30, 2012. Prosecutors said that Miller stabbed the victim at least 30 times in the brutal attack. The jury’s verdict included two aggravating factors:

  1. The jury found that there was a domestic violence pattern of abuse of multiple victims;
  2. And that Miller reoffended after recently being released from incarceration for a prior domestic violence offense against Ms. Patricelli.
Although the standard range is 30 to 39 ½ years, prosecutors recommended an exceptional sentence of 50 years in prison based on the defendant’s history of domestic violence against multiple victims and that he reoffended after recent release from incarceration. The case was handled by Senior DPA Andrienne McCoy and DPA Tuyen Lam.]]>
