A house fire broke out in the 800 block of SW 160th Street in the Gregory Heights neighborhood of Burien around Noon Sunday (Feb. 9).

“It was initially dispatched as a smoke investigation, but was quickly upgraded to a residential fire as more 911 calls came in and the fire started coming out a kitchen window,” Burien/Normandy Park Fire Chief Mike Marrs told The B-Town Blog. “Also, initial reports from neighbors indicated there was likely a woman inside. The first arriving crew went directly into rescue mode. No occupant was found and the fire was extinguished after a long difficult struggle. No civilians were injured and no fire fighters were injured also.  The fire remains under investigation until after the fire investigator can interview the home owner.”

Marrs added:

“Additionally, this was our 7th working fire in the last week, including 3 fires before noon last Thursday.  It has been a very busy week for the crews.”
