What does your 1st Grade Teacher do on Saturday nights?
A lot of local students and parents hope they get Mrs. Paris for a 1st grade teacher.
Not many of them would want to “WOD” against her.
WOD stands for “workout of the day,” and now it’s common vernacular for “working out.”
A WOD is posted daily internationally by CrossFit year round. Athletes in gyms worldwide, on duty in the Middle East or on tour in a working vessel do the WOD and compare scores.
This Saturday night at CrossFit Burien, the CrossFit Games begin on a local level. Local athletes will complete a yet-unnounced WOD in front of judges for scores that could send them to the CrossFit games.
Mrs. Paris will be a participant.
Kali, as we know her, was a three-sport athlete at Kennedy, went to St. Philomena in Des Moines and was a collegiate soccer player (goalie) at Eastern Washington University after being recruited by multiple schools.
She may be patient when teaching your children in her beach-themed classroom at St. Francis, but she has a different persona at CrossFit Burien. She competes with, amongst others, Ashley Fosberg, Tonya Talbert, Annie Bui, Kelly Knutsen and Kelsi Fadness fiercely. So fierce, in fact, you might want to give her a minute of space after the workout if she didn’t feel good about her performance.
You can see Kali and several other CrossFit Burien athletes compete this Saturday, March 1 at CrossFit Burien, 7pm for the CrossFit Games. It’s a family friendly event where you are welcome to bring a snack… and possibly ear plugs. It will be loud.
