UPDATE: Police find missing 76-year old man in Seattle
UPDATE: Gary Gochnour, 76, has been located and is safe in Seattle.
“Thanks to media coverage, police received several valuable tips from people who had recent contact with Gochnour,” reads a police statement.
Gochnour was originally supposed to arrive in Seattle on Feb. 21, but had not been heard from since leaving Gresham on Feb. 19.
Gochnour contacted his family in Seattle around 10:30 this morning. It is not known exactly where he was for the past two weeks, but his family is relieved to hear from him. According to one witness, Gochnour appears to have been in Seattle, with the U-Haul truck, for several days and was looking for a home to rent.
A man en route from Gresham, OR to Seattle has not arrived and police are concerned for his well-being.
Gary Gochnour, 76, was scheduled to arrive in Seattle on Feb. 21, but he never made it to his destination.
Police say that Gochnour may be suffering from dementia.
On Feb. 19, Gochnour rented a U-Haul truck and called his sister in Seattle to come live with her. He was scheduled to arrive in Seattle on Feb. 21, at which time he would have returned the truck. He has not communicated since that time and the truck has not been returned to U-Haul. His roommate, the last person to see him, says he left for Seattle on Feb. 27.
Gochnour is a white male, 5’9″ tall and weighing 165 lbs. He has grey hair and no facial hair. The vehicle he was last driving is a U-Haul truck with Arizona license plate number AE80457. The truck number is TM2937E and is described as a 10 foot box truck.
