Whatever pill Corey Uebalacker and (Ms.) Kali Paris swallowed last week worked.

“I feel right this week,” Ms. Paris said. “I feel good.”

After admittedly frustrating week 1 CrossFit Open workouts for both athletes, they rose the the occasion, knocking off athletes whom had beaten them a week ago to sleep on victories.

The workout?

3 minutes to accomplish the following:

  • 10 X 95#(men)/65# (women) overhead squats
  • 10 chest-to-bar pullups
  • 10 X 95#(men)/65# (women) overhead squats
  • 10 chest-to-bar pullups

If you complete that, minutes 3-6:

  • 12 X 95#(men)/65# (women) overhead squats
  • 12 chest-to-bar pullups
  • 12 X 95#(men)/65# (women) overhead squats
  • 12 chest-to-bar pullups

If you complete that, minutes 6-9… etc. etc. until you drop!

The gym was explosively loud when Corey, Beach Body, moved passed his peers into the 3rd round of work.

“It didn’t even look like it was hard for him,” Coach Tonya Talubert said.

The workout was an nasty mix of strength, speed, skill and fitness leaving all but two athletes to complete 1 round. It was a courageous workout for those with bigger builds; getting your chest to the bar for a pull-up is much harder for a 200# man than a 150# one. As CrossFit continues to show, however, those bigger, stronger bodies will get their day.

Both Casey McGee and Chris Walters joined the Open this week putting up strong numbers along with Melisa Cull who can really give her opponents grief in any workout type.

CrossFit Open workout 14.3 is this Friday at 7:30 p.m.
