A “Hot Mess” will have an opening reception from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Burien Arts Gallery at 826 SW 152nd Street on Thursday, April 3, and running through April 26.

Here’s more info on the show courtesy John Ubehend, Show Curator and President of the Burien Arts Board:

This is a all-encaustic show featuring four local encaustic Artists with differing approaches to this classic medium. Encaustic is the discipline of painting with pigment infused hot wax on paper, canvas, metal or wood. It is an ancient practice going back thousands of years. The well-known images that are brilliantly preserved portraits on the sarcophagi of the Mummy’s of Fayum are examples of the longevity of this medium. The four artists in this show range widely in their style and their inspirations.
