Burien Police find DUI driver passed out, crashed into fence
The Burien Police Department posted this photo and description on their Facebook page late Saturday night, about finding a car crashed into a fence in the 12000 block of 5th Ave South.
“When officers arrived, the engine was running and the driver was slumped over the wheel and unresponsive,” they said. “The doors were locked and the car was in drive. Officers broke out the car window, put the car in park, and removed the driver and begin providing first aid. We didn’t know if she had a medical problem which caused the car accident.”
Police say that it turns out the driver was drunk and unconscious with a mostly empty bottle of vodka on her lap.
“What a selfish act that endangered everyone on the road including herself,” they added. “Officer Kinser is writing a search warrant as I type this, so we can obtain her blood sample from the hospital to support a DUI charge.”
Burien P.D. also offered this piece of advice:
Folks if you want to drink alcohol, go for it. Just don’t get behind the wheel. Call a friend, call a cab or even call one of us. We are not a taxi service, but would gladly help you get home if it means ensuring no one gets hurt. When you’re loaded on pills or booze, you are piloting a 3000 pound bullet and it’s only a matter of when and not if you get caught. We like holding DUI offenders accountable in Burien. We send our officers to DUI detection training some are even certifeid drug recognition experts. This means we are more likely to get convictions in court. That’s our job. Please do yours and don’t drink and drive.
