Burien’s Kennedy Catholic High School was put into ‘general lockdown’ Thursday morning around 11:25 a.m., due to a police investigation in a nearby neighborhood.

Turns out the lockdown only lasted 10 minutes, and was a false alarm.

There were no injuries.

Here’s a note the school sent out to parents:

Dear Kennedy Catholic Families,

We were under general lockdown this morning. First and foremost, everyone is safe.

We were notified by the police of an investigation in the nearby neighborhood at 11:25am.

Due to our practices and procedures, we were able to secure the students and building in less than a minute. All doors were secured; students and faculty remained safe.

The police contacted Kennedy Catholic with information indicating it was a false alarm and we could remove the lockdown alert. The lockdown lasted ten minutes.

Thank you for your patience and concern.

Kennedy Catholic Administration
