On Tuesday (April 8), the City of Burien celebrated Arbor Day at Arbor Lake Park by planting a paper birch tree.

The city also commemorated being named ‘Tree City USA’ for the 13th year.

Local dignitaries who spoke included Burien Parks Director Michael Lafreniere, Deputy Mayor Bob Edgar, Adopt-a-Park Coordinator Lisa Aumann and Ben Thompson, Urban Forestry Specialist with the Washington State Department of Natural Resources.

Lending eager young hands to Parks Supervisor Myron Clinton to help plant the tree were neighborhood kids Noah, William, Riley, along with Penelope and Alex.

Here are some photos from the event, as shot by Scott Schaefer (click images to see larger versions/slideshow)

So, when will the City of Burien open up the street
so that we can have access to Arbor Park from the North?
