Volunteers needed to help clean up Shorewood Park & downtown Burien

The City of Burien will be holding some Arbor Month-related events where YOU can help clean your city up:

Mark your calendars for April opportunities to get involved around the City of Burien:

Shorewood Park

Join Shorewood on the Sound neighbors for a work party at Shorewood Park. Project will focus on park clean-up, removing invasive plants and possibly some mulching. Dress in layers with clothes that can get dirty, wear sturdy shoes and bring a container of water. Participants under age18 will need an adult to sign-in or bring a completed waiver form (http://www.burienwa.gov/DocumentCenter/View/4932). Participants under age 13 need an adult to accompany them. No restroom available at this park.


  • Saturday, April 26th – 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Burien Clean Sweep is a city-wide clean-up morning. Volunteers gather at 8:00 a.m. at the fire station for coffee, juice, donuts, etc. They are then assigned to a team and given gloves, garbage bags, buckets, brooms and safety vests. Volunteers are dispatched to an area of the city to clean up trash. At noon the crews return to the fire station for a hot dog lunch and raffle with prizes donated by area businesses. The event ends at 1:00 p.m. Shredding fundraiser takes place at 611 SW 152nd St. / 9 am – Noon. Last year 8.15 tons of garbage were collected. – Attendance 400 people.
