AAUW Highline Branch held a reception for 20 local girls who had been selected by their teachers as showing outstanding achievement in science, math and technology.

The girls – along with their families and teachers – were treated to an evening of honor with a keynote speaker, Hannah Goldberg, of Planetary Resources.

Each girl then received a certificate of excellence and a $100 gift card to Barnes and Noble.

Proud parents took pictures and enjoyed punch and cake while the girls examined a piece of a meteorite which Ms Goldberg supplied as well as heard about the many programs supporting women and girls in education sponsored by the American Association of University Women.
