[EDITOR’S NOTE: The following is a Letter to the Editor, written by a Reader. It does not necessarily reflect the opinion of The B-Town Blog nor its staff:]

On Friday, June 13th, my wife and I were driving on 1st Ave. South at 124th. A car turned in front of and caused a serious accident. I wish to thank several people who were involved with the accident.

To the people who stopped to help my wife who was injured and having problems breathing, Thank You.

To the King County Sheriff’s Deputy who just happened to be right there, your professionalism did not go unnoticed or unappreciated. In all the confusion, I did not even get your name but I know you are the Store Front Officer at Greenbridge.

To the Highline Fire Department. Your calm manner and skills in first aid kept my wife from panicking and helped to keep her calm for ride to the hospital. Taking me home to get my other car was more than I could ask for. It is a shame that the first time that I have ever gotten to ride in a fire truck was under such stressful circumstances.

To the tow truck driver from Burien Towing. No one is ever sure what to do in the event of an accident. You showed up quickly and assured me that my vehicle would be taken care of. You made sure I had things written down because it is so easy to forget important details in the confusion of an accident. I had no doubt that my van was safe with your company.

As my wife and I mend from the ordeal, I think about all that happened Friday night and one thing stands out. I am glad I live in Burien. A place that has a great police force, a great fire department, great caring businesses and people who are not afraid to get involved to lend a hand.

To all of you, my wife and I give you our heartfelt Thanks.

– Greg/Gayle Duff

Glad to hear the accident wasn’t worse than it was! A year ago an inattentive driver t-boned my car at the intersection of 136th and 2nd, totaling the car. Fortunately no one was hurt but I was pretty shaken up. The Burien police and the towing company were wonderful! So caring and calm. Yes, we are fortunate to live in a community so filled with competent and caring people.

Thank you for taking the time to write, best wishes on your recovery.
How refreshing to hear someone give thanks to our Police/Fire especially at a time when so many are so quick to criticize!!
