At the request of Flight Pattern Kids (FPK), a non-profit environmental health research group, the City of Burien is proclaiming the week of June 16 – 21, 2014 as “Toxics Awareness Week.”

Citizens are welcome to attend the council meeting at 7 p.m. on Monday, June 16, 2014 at Burien City Hall. A representative from FPK will be present with the latest information they have gathered on how toxins – especially those in our particular environment surrounding Sea-Tac Airport – can cause birth defects, auto-immune diseases and cancer, and how your family can avoid becoming a victim.

There is also an informal gathering planned for community members on Saturday, June 21, from 10 a.m. to Noon at the 5 Corners Starbucks. Citizens will be able to get more information about Sea-Tac Airport as well as “Flight Pattern Kids” and their work on understanding how toxins in our environment affect our health.

“Please join in and learn about the efforts of groups like FPK to inform and educate the public.”
